I’m not feeling well as I am writing this first post. I did not report today for work. Now, this give me enough time to think upon a lot things like what I did in the past that did benefit my future which I am living that life at this present time.
While I am contemplating upon these things it suddenly came to my mind the famous phrase or I might say question that we always asked to our friends who wanted to know more about the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ which is “What is the purpose of life?”
If you are reading this, you might want to ask yourself the same question. I also asked the same question to myself many times since I was young. My mother when I was young would always ask me “what is your dream?” I would then respond to her as far as I can remember that I would like to be a “lawyer.” Now this kind of responses was a response of a kid aging to 5 to 6 years old, as I can remember my age way back then, is that I have no clue of what I am talking about. I believe you might have similar experiences like mine with those kind of responses to the question asked by older acquaintances of ours.
As we grow older and we then realized that some of those dreams we might have when we were kids did not come into reality. There are a lot of factors that might have occurred during our growing days. The environment we grew up, the way our parents trained us, our peers also are great contributors of our decision-making of what field we are going to pursue, religion also have some factors, and all others things that might have changed the way we act, think, and do things. Some of us have the opportunity to live our dreams and most did not.
Those that did make it to live their dreams had goals set, and worked hard to achieve it. Those that did make it did not do it alone. They must have some form of leverage to achieve such a goal. I’m certain that there are a lot of books already written how to achieve goals we’ve set in our lives and certainly those books written can help us realize our dreams. Every successes in life all but have sacrifices made. In the real world life is not easy, it shouldn’t be easy because that is how we should grow and become mature of all the challenges life has to offer.
Beyond all these achievements in life we have had and more to come as we age. The question now is what is the meaning in all of these achievements? I remember the book Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom saying “So many people walk around with meaningless life. They seem half asleep when they’re busy doing things they think are important. This is because they are chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to community around you, and devote yourself to create something that gives you purpose and meaning.” I believe in this statement. The more we achieved things in life the more people we can help and give them power to define their destiny.
I always love the story of Jesus and for the record it touches billion of lives from our past, present, and future. He created Earth and all things that are in it. Yet he came to serve us and show us the way how we should live our lives. His teachings taught us about life and how we could be happy and contented. He’d shown the purpose of life. Now, my question is, what is your life’s purpose? Only you, can determine the answer to that question.
